Fergus Pipe Band Featured in the 2006 World Lacrosse Championships
July 17, 2006
The Fergus Pipe Band was recently honoured to be the featured band at the opening ceremonies of the 2006 World Lacrosse Championships at the TD Waterhouse Stadium in London Ontario. The tournament, held from July 13, 2006 to July 22, is expected to bring 20,000 fans, vendors and participants to the City of London for what tournament coordinator Tim Hobbs touted as "one of the greatest lacrosse events in history and unforgettable for participants and fans alike.”
Fergus has long been a hotbed of lacrosse -- so it's fitting and not surprising the Fergus Pipe Band was part of the entertainment and welcoming ceremonies when more than 700 players were ushered into TD Waterhouse Stadium at the University of Western Ontario. The band also played in tribute to fallen Lacrosse players.
“It is an exciting honour to take part in this world class event and to see the result of the band’s community commitment and far reaching presence” said Sean Geddes, Pipe Major, Fergus Pipe Band.
