The Fergus Pipe Band is pleased to announce that Pipe Sergeant Jim (Jimmy) Stewart has been elected Pipe Major.

Jimmy takes the reins from Sean Geddes who has been the Pipe Major of the band since 2004. During his tenure, Sean lead the band into a number of high profile performances among which include the 2006 World Lacrosse Championships in London, ON, the 2006 Grand Slam of Curling Event in Waterloo, ON and a very successful concert in Fergus. Sean’s tireless effort is very much appreciated by all in the Band. We are pleased Sean has accepted an appointment as Pipe Sergeant to allow the Band the continued opportunity to benefit from his leadership, prowess as a Piper and good friend.

Jim Stewart, is the 11th Pipe Major in the 80 year history of the Fergus Pipe Band. Originally starting with the Mount Forest Pipe Band at the age of 13, Jimmy has played with the Durham & District Pipe Band and the Ben Bhraggie Pipe Band. In keeping with the Band’s constitution, the Pipe Major appoints additional Pipe Corps Officers. Pipe Major Jim Stewart has appointed Sean Geddes and Don Jennings as his Pipe Sergeants. Chad Green has been appointed the rank of Pipe Corporal. Sean, Don and Chad proudly accept their appointments and look forward to serving along side Jimmy.
