2007 Marks the 80th Anniversary of the Fergus Pipe Band
February 20, 2007

The Fergus Pipe Band is proud to announce it will be celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2007. Founded in 1927, the Fergus Pipe Band has a long and proud history as a premier street band, a championship winning competition band and long standing ambassadors for Fergus.

The Band is planning a number of special events for the year beginning with a Pub Night on March 30, at the Elora Legion. The night will see the likes of Poor Angus (www.poorangus.com), Mike Monaghan, and the McCormick & Johnson Stepdancers performing on stage to help the Fergus Pipe Band celebrate its rich history. Of course, never giving up an opportunity to play for supporters, the Fergus Pipe Band will also perform.

Additional events are planned which will include practices in various locations around Fergus, a special tribute to the Band’s past, present and future at the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games and a Fall Caleidh. Events will be posted on the Band’s website at www.ferguspipeband.com as they are planned.

“I can honestly say I have rarely met a more dedicated group of individuals than the members of the Fergus Pipe Band. With some members having been with the band for decades, I am honoured to be part of such a rich heritage” said Don Jennings, Pipe Sergeant, Fergus Pipe Band.
