The Guelph Pipe Band has long been supported by the John McCrae Branch (Branch 234) of the Royal Canadian Legion. It is fitting that this annual event is scheduled to coincide with the beginning of ‘Legion Week’.
Massed bands opened and closed the event. During the afternoon the bands performed individually for the crowds that surrounded the playing field from the top of the hill. The pipe bands involved included the Fergus Pipe Band, the Guelph Pipe Band, Grand Celtic Pipe Band, the 48th Highlanders, the Owen Sound and District Pipes and Drums, the Dundas Pipes and Drums, and the St. Catharines Pipe Band.
