Fergus Pipe Band at the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games

The pipers and drummers of the Fergus Pipe Band participated in many events supporting the organizers of the world-class Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games. Led by Pipe Major Jim Stewart, the band marched and performed both downtown and on the festival grounds.

On Thursday evening and Friday afternoon Fergus Pipe Band were part of the downtown Fergus program. The band marched throughout the downtown area and provided short street performances in front of the library and in Templin Gardens. They also popped in to some establishments to provide some entertainment including the Bingo game at the Legion, the ‘Goose and Gridiron’ and the ‘Goofy Newfie’.

As home-town bands both the Fergus Pipe Band and Grand Celtic Pipe Band perform in the spectacular Friday night Tattoo. Centre Wellington residents were proud to see the bands march on and off the field together and perform individually and recognized them accordingly. The bands were honoured to share the field with the other tattoo bands during the massed band portion of the program.

During Saturday and Sunday the Fergus Pipe Band could be found at various spots on the festival grounds. In addition to participating in the opening ceremonies the band entertained festival attendees on several occasions as they marched through the vendors’ area and played at both the Heritage Tent and the Highland Pub.
