The Mount Forest Alumni team challenged NHL Legends. NHL Alumni included Marcel Dionne (LA Kings and Hockey Hall Of Fame), Gilbert Dionne (Montreal Canadians '93 Stanley Cup winners) and Durham, Ontario native Dean Hopkins (LA Kings). Other NHL Alumni included Gary Leeman, Mike Torchia, Bob Probert and Dennis Maruk. Dave Hutchison refereed and provided the colour commentary from the rinks surface.

Fergus Pipe Band was part of the ‘Spirit of Hockey in Mount Forest’
On January 3, 2009 the pipers and drummers of the Fergus Pipe Band were part of an evening of hockey entertainment at the new Mount Forest and District Sports Complex. This evening was part of an entire weekend of hockey – the 3rd annual ‘Reeves Challenge Cup’ Alumni Tournament.The Mount Forest Alumni team challenged NHL Legends.
