The weather challenged those who marched in the howling wind and rain and those who took the time to watch the parade and be part of the ceremony at the Cenotaph. Those who participated acknowledged that their short-lived sacrifice of comfort during this parade was nothing compared to what was endured by the over 1.1 million Canadians who served in the military during the Second World War.

Fergus Pipe Band Honours 'VE DAY' 65th Anniversary
Under the direction of Pipe Major Jim Stewart, ten pipers and drummers from the Fergus Pipe Band participated in the ‘VE Day’ parade organized by the Preston Legion Branch 126 of the Royal Canadian Legion. They joined eight bands, a colour guard, veterans and a number of automobiles carrying war veterans in the parade that moved north on King Street from the Preston Auditorium to the Preston Legion.The weather challenged those who marched in the howling wind and rain and those who took the time to watch the parade and be part of the ceremony at the Cenotaph.
