Band members and Tartan Day celebrants moved from pub to pub in Fergus. The pipe band played at four pubs adding to the music provided by the bands at each of the seven participating Fergus pubs and the new Ferugs Market.
Fergus’ fourth annual Tartan Day celebration was organized by the Fergus Scottish Festival with the support of a number of sponsors. Both the Fergus Pipe Band and the Grand Celtic Pipe Band were pleased to participate in this celebration of Scottish culture.
Canada has been celebrating National Tartan Day since 1933. One day is set aside each year to honour the role of Scots in the early history of Canada. Ontario MPP Bill Murray put forward a private member's Bill in the Ontario legislature to adopt Tartan Day, which was passed on Dec. 19, 1991 with the unanimous support of all three political parties.
April 6th also marks the anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath which was signed in 1320 written to ask Pope XXII for Scotland's independence from England.

Fergus Pipe Band Pipes Through Downtown Fergus on Tartan Day
Under the leadership of Pipe Sergeant Chad Green and Drum Sergeant Alex Hobler, pipers and drummers of the Fergus Pipe Band were part of the ‘Tartan Day’ celebration in the town of Fergus.Band members and Tartan Day celebrants moved from pub to pub in Fergus.
